Essential tips for your trip

Check-in tips
Remove the stress. Arrive 3 hours before your flight’s departure time to allow for check-in, baggage drop, clearing security and customs, and to explore the airport before you fly. Bring the travel documentation you need for your international journey, including a valid passport and a visa for the country you’re visiting (if required).
Your baggage
The number of bags and the weight of each item you can take on your flight is determined by your airline – they’ll let you know at the time of booking, so check your ticket confirmation.
What you cannot take onboard
For everyone’s safety and comfort, there are also rules on what you can take on your flight including powders, liquids, aerosols and gels. Head to the Australian Border Force website to find out the rules.
Tourist refund scheme
You may be eligible to claim a refund on tax paid on goods within Australia as you pass through the airport. Refunds are given to passengers who have spent $300 or more (including tax) in the 60 days before their departing flight. Goods must be carried on board and presented together with a tax invoice.
Shop, click and collect
Place an online order for your duty free purchase from 30 days prior up to 24 hours before your flight. Browse through Heinemann’s large range of products online, and we'll have your purchases ready for pick up before you depart or when you arrive.
Duty free allowances for departing passengers
If you're leaving Australia with duty free purchases, please make sure you do not exceed the duty free concession limits of your destinations. For information about limits, check with your airline, visit one of the Heinemann Tax and Duty Free Stores at the airport or refer to IATA.
Book Hotels
Get organised and book your airport stay in advance.
