Sydney Airport has joined forces with United Airlines, Memphis Tourism, and Travel Texas to launch the Houston Training Platform - a unique and engaging online portal designed specifically for Australian travel agents.

The Houston Training Platform1 is an interactive learning experience offering travel agents the opportunity to immerse themselves in America’s soul-filled South to understand the rich culture of the region and provide enhanced knowledge for passenger itineraries.

The platform features extensive information on the flying experience with United Airlines, the unique food, drink and music of the area, and distinctive local events travellers can enjoy.

Travel agents who successfully complete the training will enter a draw to win a coveted spot on the 2025 Houston Familiarisation Trip2, a fully hosted itinerary including accommodation, iconic experiences, and meals. Eligibility criteria and terms and conditions apply.

Sydney Airport Group Executive, Aviation Growth and Strategy, Greg Botham said, “We’re pleased to support United Airlines, as well as Memphis Tourism, and Travel Texas to showcase this incredible part of the world and promote the destination knowledge of America’s South to Australian travel agents.

“In particular, Houston is an extremely powerful transport hub, and United Airlines’ Sydney to Houston service connects Sydney to 100 cities in key US and South American destinations providing exceptional connectivity for passengers.

“This project highlights our commitment to innovative industry engagements that drive passenger demand for our airline partners.”

United Airlines currently fly three times a week in November and December 2024 and will be available daily for the remainder of the Northern Winter season.

Belinda Condon, Leisure Sales Manager Australia from United Airlines stated, “We are excited to partner with Sydney Airport, Memphis Tourism, and Travel Texas on this initiative. By equipping Australian travel agents with in-depth knowledge of Houston and its surrounding areas, we are paving the way for more travellers to experience the vibrant attractions that make the South truly unique.”

Tommy Woods, Economic Development and Tourism Marketing Specialist for Travel Texas, said how thrilled he is to partner with Sydney Airport and United Airlines to launch this exciting e-learning incentive.

“This programme offers a fantastic opportunity for agents to enhance their knowledge of Texas and immerse themselves in our rich history, diverse landscapes, world-class culinary scene, and iconic attractions like one of the world’s largest rodeos and NASA's Space Centre.

“Our trade partners in Australia are key to our growing popularity with local travellers, so we're looking forward to rewarding agents and welcoming the lucky winners to Houston next March. They'll experience firsthand the warm Texan hospitality and vibrant energy that makes Texas a premier travel destination."

Director, Australia / New Zealand Chris Ingram from Memphis Tourism added, “This collaboration is a fantastic opportunity to highlight Memphis as a premier destination, and we look forward to welcoming more Australian travellers to explore our city’s legendary music and cultural heritage.”

With over 1.3 million Australian tourists visiting the United States each year, the Houston Training Platform is an excellent opportunity for travel agents to enhance their expertise.
